Olivia Sarvello graduated  from Indiana University in May 2023 with a B.F.A. in Dance. In 2018, she was directly admitted into the Department of Contemporary Dance at Indiana University. Throughout her time at IU, Olivia studied under various professors such as Elizabeth Shea, Beatrice Capote, Stafford C. Berry Jr., Lalah Hazelwood, Justin Sears Watson, Christian Claessens, and Kate Lyons. She performed in numerous faculty and student dance concerts. More specifically, she performed in Elizabeth Shea’s Leave Only Footprints, Evelyn Wang’s Minor Feelings, Cameron McKinney’s Beclouded, Beatrice Capote’s Ori, Braeden Barnes' Mindful Meditation, and Elizabeth Shea’s Counterpole. Throughout her dance education, she trained in Ballet, Modern, Contemporary, Jazz, House, and African Diaspora dance forms. She has also worked with multiple artists such as Juel D. Lane, Erik Abbott- Main, Tiare Keeno, Azuki Umeda, Courtney Mazeika, and Mark Caserta. Olivia earned her certification in Kane Core Integration Mat Pilates as well. She premiered her choreographic work, Unspoken Relativity, in the 2021 Junior Dance Concert and Until Depths Have Sunken in the 2023 Senior Capstone Concert. In 2021, Olivia interned at Eisenhower Dance Detroit where she trained with company members and assisted with their summer intensives. She attended LINK Dance Festival in 2022 where she studied under dance companies such as SALT Contemporary Dance, BODY TRAFFIC LA, WhirlWind, LED Boise, and Kizuna Dance. Olivia also attended Dance Italia in July 2023 where she worked with international artists such as Maya Orchin, Stefanie Nelson, Stefano De Luca, Christina Planas Leitão, and Vincenzo De Rosa. In May 2023, Olivia signed as an apprentice with Eisenhower Dance Detroit where she continues to train and perform. She has performed in Stephanie Pizzo's Holding Space,  Norbert De La Cruz III's Legacy Island, Pizzo's State of Mind, Joshua Peugh's PINK, Pizzo's Loving - Excerpt from 5 Tangos, and Tamisha Guy's The Act of Play Got Us Here.  Olivia continues to grow her knowledge of dance by also teaching students of all ages. She has taught at the school of Eisenhower Dance Detroit, the Detroit Skating Club, Durfee Elementary School, Mary Skiba's School of Dance, and Five Crown Fitness. Olivia is an artist who is interested in expanding her dance education and knowledge through embodied research.
